Conference location

The conference will be held at the top floor of building Horst (building 20 on the campus map) at the campus of the University of Twente. A map of the campus and general travel information can be found here.

Travel

AIMS 2009 will be held at the spacious campus of the University of Twente. The University of Twente is situated around 5 kilometers from the centre of the city of Enschede, and around 7 kilometers from the centre of the city of Hengelo. For most attendees, it will be most convenient to fly to Amsterdam Schiphol airport, and take a train from there. You can take a train to the central railway station of Hengelo or Enschede or to the station Enschede Drienerlo. Then, to reach the campus you can take a taxi or a bus:

From Hengelo station

From Hengelo station, take bus line 9 and get off at the bus stop 'UT/Viaduct' which is at the main entrance of the university. From the main entrance you need another 10 min walking to reach the Horst building. Alternatively, during rush hours - not during school holidays - take bus line 15.

From Enschede central station

From the Enschede station, take bus line 1 ('UT/Universiteit'). This line reaches the campus where you need to get off at stop 'De Zul'. It might be useful to ask the driver since sometimes buses do not stop at every stop. The buses run at 10 min intervals. Alternatively line 9 in the direction 'Hengelo OV' will bring you to the stop 'UT/Viaduct' which is at the main entrance of the university. From the main entrance you need another 10 min walking to reach the Horst building. The bus leaves every fifteen minutes (thirty minutes in early morning) between 7.39 and 22.39. At later hours the night line 19 provides the same service.

From Enschede Drienerlo station

From the train station Enschede Drienerlo, you could use line 9 in the direction 'Enschede' for a single stop to reach the university entrance. However, we recommend to walk to the university (ca. 2 km) since it might be less time consuming than waiting for the bus.

General information

To return to Enschede or Hengelo you take the same lines. These have the same frequencies as the corresponding buses going to the University. Bus tickets can be bought in the bus, but it is cheaper to buy them at a post office or at the train station.

Accommodation

We have made block bookings in the 4-star Eden Star Hotel Hengelo. The hotel is located in the centre of Hengelo, close to the railway station.
